Lander tops Emmanuel on the road, 5-4

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Lander women's tennis team used a pair of gritty three-set wins in singles play to take down Emmanuel, 5-4, on Tuesday in a road non-conference match. 

With the win, the Bearcats (3-2) earned their second consecutive victory and snapped Emmanuel's (4-4) four-match winning streak.

The Bearcats picked up a pair of doubles points at No. 2 and No. 3 to take a 2-1 lead into singles action. 

In singles play, Lander used a pair of big three-set points to fend off the Lions. At No. 1, Eduarda Ferreira held on for a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win and Lindsey Wiggins finished strong at No. 4 with a 7-6, 3-6, 6-0 victory to help lead the Bearcats to a win.  

The victory starts a welcomed stretch of three consecutive home matches at Joe Cabri Tennis Center. The Bearcats will return on Friday to kick off PBC play against Columbus State for a 2:00 p.m. match.
