AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Lander women's basketball team had five players score in double figures and Mylea McKenith recorded three steals to became the program's all-time career leader as the Bearcats defeated Augusta, 93-76.
Symone Starks paced Lander (15-5, 12-2 PBC) paced the squad with 20 points. McKenith, who surpassed Britni Johnson with her 266th career steal at the 4:45 mark of the first quarter, added 19 points, while Tabitha Dailey netted 18 points. Jessica Harris racked up 15 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and five steals. Amiaya Melvins contributed 14 points in the win.
Lander took a one-point lead into halftime, but outscored the Jaguars (4-15, 3-10 PBC) by 16 points in the third quarter to take control of the game. Starks and Dailey combined for 31 of their 38 points in the second half to help lead the Bearcats to their sixth consecutive win and 10th victory in their last 11 contests
The Bearcats are back in action on Wednesday as they host UNC Pembroke at 5:30 p.m.
