Men's soccer takes first road trip for Sunday match at Lenoir-Rhyne

Hickory, N.C. – After defeating Chowan in the season opener, the Lander men's soccer team (1-0) is set to take on Lenoir-Rhyne (1-0) in the club's first road test of the season. The match will start at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday in Hickory, NC at Lenoir-Rhyne University Soccer Field.

• After burying two penalty kicks in the team's season opener, junior defender Jordan Skelton enters Sunday's match against Lenoir-Rhyne atop the Peach Belt Conference in goals scored with two.

• Newcomer freshman forward George Barmby is off to a promising start after scoring his first career goal in his first match with the Bearcats against Chowan.

• Sophomore defender George Knight and senior forward Jamie Lunn also recorded goals in Lander's season opener versus Chowan.

• In last year's match between Lander and Lenoir-Rhyne, the Bearcats fell to the Bears 2-0 at home.

• The Lander backline will have its hands full against senior Ismael Noumansana and junior Rudy Fernandez. The two forwards were both voted to the SAC Preseason All-Conference First Team.

• Noumansana scored the Bears' two lone goals in Lenoir-Rhyne's 2-0 victory over Lander last season.
