Bearcats suffer 9-0 loss at Belmont Abbey

BELMONT, N.C. – The Lander baseball team stranded eight runners on Tuesday night and fell to Belmont Abbey, 9-0, in a midweek contest. 

Lander (11-20) trailed 2-0 midway through the night before the Crusaders (16-18) seven runs over the final three innings to put the game out of reach. Landon Dupert led the Bearcat offense with a pair of hits on the night. 

Carson Schlegel (0-1) allowed a pair of unearned runs on two hits with one walk and four strikeouts in 3.0 innings in his first career start. Jason White (2-0) limited Lander to three hits with seven strikeouts and a walk in 5.0 innings in a winning effort. 

The Bearcats host rival Erskine Wednesday night at Dolny Stadium at 6:00 p.m.
