Bearcats unable to pull out win at USC Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. – The Lander women's tennis team fell behind after doubles and could not complete the rally as the Bearcats dropped a tough 5-4 conference battle to USC Aiken on Friday afternoon.

Lander (4-8, 1-6 PBC) lost its fifth consecutive match as USC Aiken (7-5, 1-3 PBC) picked up its first league win of the year.

The Pacers took a 2-1 lead in doubles action and kept the Bearcats at bay in singles, as Lander managed wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5. Isabella Schulz earned a tiebreaker point at No. 5 and Nelli Lius rallied from a set down to win at No. 1, but USC Aiken held on for the victory.

Lander returns to Greenwood on Sunday afternoon to host North Georgia at 1:30 p.m.
