Women's basketball begins 2018 with bout against UNC Pembroke

GREENWOOD – The Lander women's basketball (9-2, 4-1 PBC) faces its first PBC test of the new year on Wednesday night as the Bearcats clash with UNC Pembroke (3-5, 1-3 PBC) at 5:30 p.m.

• Lander is 5-1 in its last six games against UNC Pembroke and has won the last five meetings in Finis Horne Arena. 

• The Bearcats continue to thrive coming out of the locker room. Lander is outscoring its opponents by 50 in the first quarter (219-169) and 54 in the third quarter (226-172). 

• Junior Chelsea Mitchell was honored as the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday. Mitchell recorded 26 points, 12 rebounds and six steals in Lander's win over Georgia Southwestern. 

• The Bearcat starting five has outscored its last three opponents' starters 224-92. 

• Senior Breshay Johnson has recorded double-doubles in each of Lander's last three contests. 

• Lander has held its last three opponents to under 60 points. The Bearcats last held three consecutive teams under 60 points from Jan. 10-17, 2015. 

• Four different Bearcats have netted 100 points this season.
