Softball announces Taylor Braselton as new assistant coach

GREENWOOD – Lander head softball coach Glen Crawford announced on Tuesday that former Reinhardt University standout Taylor Braselton has been named the new assistant coach for the Bearcat softball program. Braselton played for Crawford at Reinhardt from 2014-15.

"Any coach will tell you that having a former player come and be a part of your coaching staff is an honor," Crawford said. "Taylor will bring so much to our staff with her playing experience and her work ethic. Having coached Taylor, she knows what I expect and will be able to transition into the coaching role easier. She was a great player and I believe she will be a great coach as well."

Braselton's career honors at Reinhardt included being named an Academic All-American, Second Team NFCA All-American, Second Team NAIA All-American, and 2017 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Player of the Year. She was named All-AAC in each of her four years with the Eagles. Last season, Braselton batted .457 with a conference-high 94 hits, scored 66 runs and stole 35 bases. Reinhardt claimed AAC championships in each of Braselton's four seasons with the program.

During her freshman campaign, Braselton helped lead the Eagles to a third-place finish at the NAIA Softball World Series.

A native of Euharlee, Ga, Braselton graduated from Reinhardt last spring with a bachelor's degree in Business Management. She is working towards her master's degree in Emergency Management at Lander.
