Spears returns to Lander as interim softball coach

AUGUSTA - The Lander softball team rallied for three runs in the seventh inning Tuesday afternoon as they defeated Augusta State, 3-1, in the second game and split a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader with the Jaguars at Jaguar Field. Augusta State won the first game, 12-4, in six innings.

AMERICUS, Ga. -- It was the same story on a different day for the Lander softball team as the Bearcats repeated Saturday's outcome against Columbus State on Sunday when they lost a pair of one-run games in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at Georgia Southwestern. GSW took the first game, 2-1, and the second, 3-2.

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Lander softball team played Columbus State University about as close as possible Saturday afternoon, but lost two one-run Peach Belt Conference games at Cougar Field. Columbus won the first game, 2-1, in eight innings, then edged the Bearcats, 4-3, in the second contest.
