No. 4 men's tennis shuts out Hurricanes on the road

AMERICUS, Ga.  The fourth-ranked Lander men's tennis team recorded a shut out on Saturday afternoon when the Bearcats defeated Georgia Southwestern, 9-0, in a Peach Belt Conference match at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex.

Lander improves to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the PBC, while the Hurricanes drop to 3-4, 0-2. The Bearcats have shut out Georgia Southwestern in four consecutive seasons. 

In singles, No. 1 David Korsten (LU) def. Steven Blythe (GSW) 6-3, 6-2; No. 2 Jules Vauthier (LU) def. Alex Canovas Ferrando (GSW) 6-2, 4-0 (retired); No. 3 Eirik Groner (LU) def. Beau Millwood (GSW) 6-0, 6-1; No. 4 Ozan Cildir (LU) def. Joel Landis (GSW) 6-1, 6-1; No. 5 Alexandre Springer (LU) def. Oliver Marshall (GSW) 6-0, 6-2; and No. 6 Omar El-Moslemany (LU) def. Jonathan Martin (GSW) 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles, No. 1 Marc Hofer/El-Moslemany (LU) def. Blythe/Marshall (GSW) 8-3; No. 2 Korsten/Groner (LU) def. Canovas Ferrando/Millwood (GSW) 8-0; and No. 3 Vauthier/Cildir (LU) def. MLandis/Marshall (GSW) 8-3.
