No. 4 Bearcats cruise past Augusta, 8-1, to begin PBC play

GREENWOOD – The No. 4-ranked Lander men's tennis team swept the singles matches and won two of three doubles Saturday afternoon in defeating Augusta, 8-1, in a Peach Belt Conference match at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center.

Lander improves to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the PBC, while Augusta drops to 5-1, (0-1).

In singles, No. 1 David Korsten (LU) def. Patrick Oliveira (AUG), 6-4, 2-6, 10-6; No. 2 Jules Vauthier (LU) def. Gaspard Mathieu (AUG), 6-0, 6-3; No. 3 Eirik Groner (LU) def. Moritz Gehlhaus (AUG), 6-1, 6-0; No. 4 Ozan Cildir (LU) def. Arthur Andrade (AUG), 6-4, 6-3; No. 5 Alexandre Springer (LU) def. Joao Gabriel Freitas (AUG), 6-4, 6-2; and No. 6 Omar El-Moslemany (LU) def. Odyr Cruz (AUG), 6-4, 7-5.

In doubles, No. 1 Marc Hofer/El-Moslemany) def. Oliveira/Cruz (AUG), 8-5; No. 2 Gehlhaus/Gabriel Dos Santos (AUG) def. Korsten/Groner (LU), 9-7; and No. 3 Vauthier/Cildir (LU) def. Freitas/Gabriel Pansera (AUG), 8-0.
