Manrique receives Arthur Ashe Leadership Award

GREENWOOD - Lander University tennis player Juan Manrique is the recipient of this year's Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award for the NCAA Division II Southeast Region it was announced recently by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Manrique, a graduating senior from Bogota, Colombia who majored in business administration with an economics and finance emphasis, has won numerous academic awards. Last summer Manrique competed in the Pearson National Economics Insider Symposium in Washington, D.C.

The award is given to men's and women's players across all three NCAA Divisions, plus NAIA and junior colleges, and recognizes players "who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements."
