Soccer teams to host PBC tournament games

GREENWOOD - The Lander men's and women's soccer teams will both host first-round games in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the Jeff May Complex the PBC announced late Saturday night. (PBC Tournament Website)

The Lady Bearcats (12-4-1, 5-4-1 PBC) earned the No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 Flagler (9-7-1, 5-4-1) at 4:30 p.m. During the regular season, Lander defeated Flagler, 1-0, one of the Lady Bearcats school-record 10 shutouts.

The third-seeded Lander men's team (8-6-2, 5-2-1), after a 1-0 double-overtime win over UNC Pembroke (10-4-2, 3-3-2) on Saturday, will meet the sixth-seeded Braves again at 7 p.m., Tuesday.

Following the first-round games at the higher seeds home fields, the tournament will move to Blanchard Woods in Evans, Ga.

The women's semifinals will be played at 5 p.m. Friday, followed by the men's semis at 7:30. The women's championship game will start at 1 p.m., Sunday, followed by the men's title game at 3:30.

Both tournament champions earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Division II national championship tournament.
