No. 17 men's golf finishes 10th at Cougar Invitational in first event of season

Columbus, Ga. – The No. 17-ranked Lander men's golf team used a closing 295 during the third round of the Cougar Invitational on Tuesday to hold onto 10th place at the Country Club of Columbus.

With their 11-over round, the Bearcats finished with a 22-over-par total of 874. Host Columbus State used a pair of 9-under rounds on Monday to storm to a 10-stroke victory. The Cougars posted an 835 total, while Florida Tech was second at 845 at the par-71, 6,515-yard layout.

Florida Tech did produce the event's individual medalist in Max O'Hagan, who carded a 70 to finish at 8-under 205 for a one-stroke win. 

Lander sophomore Conor Richards closed with a 73, while junior Michael Brodie finished with a 74 to tie for 17th place at 214.

Sophomore Jon Parker carded four birdies on the day to finish at 2-over and tied for 49th in the event. Senior James Bartlett tied for 66th, while freshman Braydon Evans finished in 86th place. 

The Bearcats will be back in action on Oct. 2 when travel to Dahlonega, Ga., for the UNG Fall Invitational.
