MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Lander men's basketball team slipped on the road Saturday afternoon, dropping a Peach Belt Conference Conference matchup at Georgia College, 80-64.
Lander (5-11, 4-6 PBC) shot 47.6 percent from beyond the arc, but was limited to a season-low 50 shot attempts from the field. On the other side, the Bobcats (9-6, 4-5 PBC) put four starters in double figures and shot 52.5 percent from the floor.
Elijah Alston posted a team-high 14 points and seven rebounds. Jordan Dingle had 12 points off the bench, while Sidney Robinson chipped in 11 points. TJ Knight collected seven rebounds and Rahu Purdie dished three assists.
Despite falling behind by 24 early in the second half, the Bearcats brought the game back within 10 points after a made three by Alston made the score 67-57 with 5:13 to play. The Bobcats did not allow Lander to get any closer from that point, however, outscoring the Bearcats 13-7 over the final stretch of the game.
The Bearcats are back at home on Monday, hosting Clayton State at 3:30 p.m.
