Peach Belt coaches pick Bearcats 10th in preseason poll

GREENWOOD – The 2017-18 Peach Belt Conference preseason coaches' poll was unveiled on Friday morning with the Lander men's basketball team slotted in a tie for 10th place with Francis Marion. UNC Pembroke was selected as the preseason favorite. 

The Braves received eight first-place votes from the league's head coaches and a total of 117 points in the poll. Augusta picked up the remaining four first-place votes and 110 total points. Coaches did not place their own teams on their ballots.

Columbus State continued the preseason poll in third, followed by USC Aiken and Clayton State. North Georgia and Georgia College were chosen sixth and seventh with Young Harris at eighth and Flagler in ninth. 

The Bearcats and Patriots each received total 32 points to tie for 10th place. Georgia Southwestern rounded out the poll with 20 points. 

Lander opens the 2017-18 season on Nov. 10 against Carson-Newman in Anderson, S.C.
