Speedy point guard commits to Lander men's basketball

GREENWOOD - Lander head men's basketball coach Jeff Burkhamer today announced the signing of Kiair Crouch, a six-foot, point guard, to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Bearcats this upcoming season.

A graduate of Berkmar High School in Decatur, Ga., Crouch averaged 14.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game last season while shooting 51 percent from the floor, 58 percent from the three-point line, and 68 percent from the free throw line.  He had career highs of 32 points against Meadowcreek High School and nine assists against Collins Hill High School.

"Kiair is an extremely quick point guard and one of the fastest players I've seen with the ball from baseline to baseline," said Burkhamer. "He runs the team, is good in the open court in transition, is an excellent defender, and is a terrific passer."

Crouch was a first-team All-Region 8 6-A selection.

"Kiair is going to make the guys around him better," said Berkmar head coach Greg Phillips. "He is going to challenge guys in practice every day and will make guys work with high intensity and toughness."

Crouch, who plans to major in Criminal Justice, said, "I feel that I am prepared for college work and look forward to the challenge of college life. On the court, I feel that I can solidify the point guard position and will get the chance to play immediately."
