LU to host 17th Christmas Classic high school tournament

GREENWOOD – Fourteen high school basketball teams will participate in the 17th annual Bearcat Christmas Classic, a boys and girls high school basketball tournament, which will be hosted by the Lander University Bearcat Club, Dec. 21-23 at Horne Arena.

Admission is $5 per session.

The participating girls teams are: Abbeville, Calhoun Falls, Emerald, Liberty, Saluda and Ware Shoals.

The boys teams are: Abbeville, Emerald, Calhoun Falls, Liberty, Greenwood, McCormick, Ninety Six and Saluda.

First-round girls games on Monday, Dec. 21 are: 1:00 - Ware Shoals vs. Liberty; and 2:30 - Calhoun Falls vs. Abbeville.

Second-round girls games will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 22 with the championship to be played at 7 p.m., Wednesday.

First-round boys games on Monday, Dec. 21 are: 4:00 - Liberty vs. Ninety Six; 5:30 - McCormick vs. Abbeville; 7:00 - Saluda vs. Greenwood; and 8:30 - Calhoun Falls vs. Emerald.

Second-round boys games will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 22, with the championship to be played at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 23.
