8/5/2009Tennis earns individual and team ITA scholar awards
GREENWOOD - The Lander men's tennis team, which finished the 2009 season ranked No. 20 in the country, was one of only 10 NCAA Division II teams in the country to receive ITA All-Academic team honors it was recently announced. A team must have a cumulative 3.2 grade point average on a 4.0 scale to earn the award. In addition, three Lander players -- Damien Cordesse, Juan Manrique and Carlos Marques -- earned individual ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for posting at least a 3.5 grade point average for the academic year. Cordesse, Manrique and Marques were named to the Peach Belt Conference men's tennis All-Academic team following the completion of the season. |
